Nicholas Leach Joins CDFL
1. What drew you to this profession?
I love problem solving in creative environments. It honestly doesn’t matter the medium to me as long as it challenges me and engages me to grow. I am excited about this specific position because it is multi-disciplinary and will require a wide skillset to pull disparate elements together into compelling, impactful work, in an industry that quite literally shapes the world around us.
2. What’s your happy place outside of work?
On a run on a sunny day in nature or in my studio with my fiancé.
3. If you weren’t in this role/industry, what’s your alternate dream job?
CGI/VFX or Animated Media
4. What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?
The process matters more than the outcome.
5. What’s the most interesting place you’ve traveled to?
Either, Amsterdam with its traffic lanes of bicycles, free culture, and house boats, or the Swiss Alps dotted by French chalets and suede brown cows with little yellow bells.
6. Where should we go for lunch if you get to pick?
A’HA, get the pho or bahn mi.
7. If you have a week off starting tomorrow, where are you going?
I’d like to go home to Louisiana and spend some slow days in NOLA.
8. What’s a TV show you could rewatch forever?
True Detectives, (season 1 specifically).
9. What's something people are surprised to learn about you?
I have 8 living grandparents, none of them are great grandparents.
10. What are you looking forward to most in your new role?
I am excited to see what specific workflows we develop for creating incredible looking renders. Different projects will have different priorities and I think the flexibility required to adapt to the current project’s goals will be challenging and fun.
