What We’re Reading on the Web

What-Were-Reading-e1432305796156 (4).jpg

As usual, we’ve read the Internet cover-to-cover and rounded up some of the most interesting reads out there for your perusal. Enjoy!

This weekend marks the official kickoff to summer and vacation season so if you’re in need of ideas, check out these design-inspiring travel destinations.

Graphic designer Kate McLean is a student of smell mapping at the Royal College of Art in London and yes, apparently that is a thing. She’s creating a smell map series of cities around the the world – they are beautiful and weird and pretty cool.

The District of Columbia Public Library system has released the first designs for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library renovation.

These haunting pictures of the oft-forgotten North Brother Island, situated between the East River and Rikers Island, are incredible. It’s served a multitude of purposes from quarantining Typhoid Mary to housing World War II Veterans before it closed in 1963.

Lastly, as you head out to your Memorial Day BBQ, don’t forget to take a look at this guide to networking link* because you never know who you’ll run into while putting mustard on your hot dog.

*there’s probably a joke here about sausage links and hyperlinks and Memorial Day BBQs but it’s almost a three day weekend, so what are you going to do? Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
