48 year old Alejandro Aravena was just awarded the Pritzker Prize, the most celebrated award in architecture, for his work creating “projects of public interest and social impact, including housing, public space, infrastructure and transportation.” Check out this profile from Vanity Fair to see more about the incredible work he’s doing at his firm, Elemental.

A show of hands – how many of you, dear blog readers, have ever been frustrated by the light emitted by the annoyingly efficient LED bulb? This blog editor is not afraid to say her hand is raised, and will even admit to sometimes (often) choosing light quality over conservation. Whoops. Good news, though: according to FastCoExist, thanks to some MIT researchers, there could be a new bulb in town, and it’s one that will both light our homes beautifully and warm our efficiency-minded hearts.
