Mississippi Museums Update

This project update was provided by architect Chris Myers.

The Mississippi Museums project has entered its third month of interior construction, and though it may look as if nothing has changed from the outside of the building, Thrash Construction is inside working feverishly to stay on schedule. The museum’s opening is set for December 2017, to coincide with Mississippi’s bicentennial statehood celebration.

As walls continue to go up, previously cavernous volumes have been delineated into the spaces that will house the civil rights and history exhibits, as well as educational spaces, an auditorium, offices, a full exhibit workshop, and enough collections storage to carry the state to its tricentennial.
