His vision of the socially-conscious architect gave way to the founding of Auburn University’s Rural Studio – an avenue for students to create meaningful change in one of the South’s poorest counties. This history of the first 20 years of the Rural Studio from the Bitter Southerner is a can’t-miss read for any lover of architecture, social justice, and the South.
Premier talent agent turned interior designer Sandy Gallin is a fascinating character. He spent years as one of Hollywood’s most sought after producers, and then suddenly walked away. He didn’t go too far, however, as he ended up becoming the preferred interior designer for some of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars. It doesn’t end at picking a wall color though – there’s so much more in this Architectural Digest profile featuring his story and images of his clients’ homes.
