Ribbon Cutting for Hinds Community College’s Ball Clinic
The Hinds Community College Jackson Campus’ Nursing and Allied Health Center, dubbed the Ball Clinic, held their ribbon cutting and open house on January 9, 2014.
CDFL was the architect on the original clinic, the Clinic for Drs. Pittman and Ball, and over the years have completed two additions and renovations to the facility. This most recent renovation and addition includes a brand new, state-of-the-art Simulation Center named for Dr. George Ball.
Dr. George Ball is a former member of the Hinds Community College Foundation Board of Directors and enjoyed an illustrious career as a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology until his retirement in 1998. Prior to the ceremony, the Clinic had been referred to as the Nursing and Allied Health Center – that is until Dr. George Ball’s sons, Dr. Christopher Ball and Dr. Kyle Ball, and their mother helped to plan a surprise dedication for the Simulation Center that would be named for their father.
The state-of-the-art Simulation Center will serve a community of learners totaling over 1,000 in 13 nursing and allied health programs. The Center features four simulation laboratories and will be used to train faculty and students in acute and long-term care as well as other healthcare settings. This form of education allows students the opportunity to implement interdisciplinary care and experience very real, specific clinical situations. In fact, Dr. Ball himself “delivered” the first Simulation Center baby; a fitting tribute to his legacy at Hinds and the perfect end to a day honoring his contributions to the institution.
Congratulations to Hinds Community College and the entire Ball Family; we’re proud to have partnered with you on this exciting new chapter.
