McCoy Federal Building Receives Accolades

The McCoy Federal Building in Jackson, Mississippi, a joint venture of CDFL and Schwartz/Silver Architects was the recipient of a 2013 American Architecture Award.

The American Architecture Awards are the highest and most prestigious distinguished building awards program that honor new and cutting-edge design in the United States. This year saw a record number of project entries that included new buildings, landscape architecture, and urban planning.

Constructed as part of the General Services Administration’s Design Excellence program, the modernization of this federal office building has dramatically changed the urban landscape in Jackson. The re-envisioned plaza provides a landscaped oasis in the city, and, by reaching out toward the center of the site; the security pavilion creates an inviting entry point for employees and visitors.

CDFL is proud of this achievement and looks forward to continuing to be involved in the beautification and updating of more of our hometown’s buildings.

Thalia Mara Prepares for Renovation

CDFL, along with many other community stakeholders, is assisting in a multi-phased renovation of Jackson’s beloved Thalia Mara Hall.

Friends of Thalia Mara Hall, a nonprofit spearheaded by CDFL principal Robb Farr, is taking the lead on a capital campaign to raise a minimum $1 million to join the $1 million from the city of Jackson and $1million in state bond authorization.

CDFL is looking forward to participating in this incredibly rewarding but highly complex project; the renovations will face a short delivery time, as the USA International Ballet Competition begins this June.

“We are thrilled to be able to invest in our community while contributing to the cultural identity of Jackson in such a significant way,” said architect Colby Dearman.
