Zone 8 Indoor Firing Range & Combat Arms Training & Maintenance (CATM) Facility
This project delivered a fully enclosed, 14-lane indoor firing range and Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) facility designed to support advanced weapons training and readiness. The 25-meter range is complemented by maintenance areas, secure weapons and ammunition vaults, a classroom, firearms simulator room, administrative offices, and building support spaces including restrooms.
Engineered for resilience in high-velocity hurricane zones, the facility features load-bearing masonry construction and a standing seam metal roof. Sustainability was a core focus throughout the design and construction process. The building meets the criteria of a High-Performance Sustainable Building, achieving third-party certification and undergoing whole-building commissioning.
Executed as a design-build project under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with HW Pence, the facility enhances Tyndall Air Force Base’s mission capabilities by providing a safe, efficient, and state-of-the-art training environment.
