The Verner S. Holmes Learning Resource Center

Renovating the Verner S. Holmes Learning Resource Center (LRC) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center provided unique challenges. First and foremost, a redesign would affect 17 departments and over 13,000 people while CDFL redesigned the facility to maximize space for students and create a more efficient workplace for the administration.

The design team worked closely with each department before renovation began to understand their individual needs and daily work habits. Next, CDFL created a detailed, yet flexible, timeline for the entire project that allowed renovation to take place while keeping all departments operational.

Taken together, this approach allowed CDFL to meet practical and aesthetic needs while remaining sensitive to clients’ needs.

“As one of the largest organizations in the state, we wanted to be sure that our visitor’s first impression of our facilities was in line with the high quality of our education, research and patient care. Our beautiful new entrance and lobby certainly accomplish that.”

Chancellor, University of
