Northgate Student Housing
Located on the campus of The University of Mississippi, the Northgate housing facility provided exciting new housing opportunities for the school. The project did not come without a challenge, as CDFL was tasked with providing complete design services and creating a housing addition that would be fully functional following an 18-month schedule from the start of design to occupancy.
The design included the addition of 383 beds in a 2 resident per room configuration with a bathroom in each private room. The building is comprised of neighborhoods, and allows a resident director to be in charge of 30 students.
The design strategy utilized by the CDFL team aids in the creation of a support group for living and learning, and fostering relationship building among residents. The building design also encourages community by providing a sense of place for those residing within the facility. Each floor contains a lounge, study area, and kitchenette for use by the neighborhood residents.
The facility also includes a service dog care center for grooming and support of the service dogs who call Northgate home.
