Walter Payton Athletic Complex Master Plan

CDFL provided master planning services for Jackson State University. This master plan represents a centralization of JSU Athletic Facilities in tribute to the University’s greatest athletic alumni, Walter Payton.

Maximizing the opportunities around an existing track and field facility, the master plan completes the development of the 54- acres southeast corner of the urban campus. The proposed new amenities include a new baseball facility (Phase 1 of the complex), a new softball facility, a marching band practice field, an athletic equipment building, a new student health and recreation center, a new Facilities Management facility, and numerous site improvements including; a new Terry Road campus entryway, jogging and walking path, parking facilities, and extensive landscaping.

In addition to the Master Plan, CDFL provided design services for the new baseball stadium, of which, Phase I of the stadium was completed. Phase I of the stadium included the new playing field, dugouts, temporary bleacher seating and a temporary press box.
