Odom Hall & Deupree Hall Renovation - The University of Mississippi

Originally constructed in the 1920s, Odom and Deupree Halls on Library Loop were transformed from traditional dormitories into a modern academic center for the Departments of Political Science and Criminal Justice. CDFL led a comprehensive renovation that preserved the historic exterior while fully reimagining the interior to meet the academic needs of today’s students and faculty.

The interior was completely restructured, with existing partitions removed and floors leveled to create open, flexible classroom and instructional space. Both original internal stairwells were retained and updated to meet current life safety and accessibility codes.

All building systems were replaced, introducing contemporary mechanical, electrical, and data infrastructure. The facility was fully wired for modern communication needs, including a dedicated data environment tailored for criminal justice program use.

This successful renovation provides the departments with a three-story, updated academic home that blends historic character with forward-thinking design. The revitalized halls remain true to the campus aesthetic while supporting a new generation of learning and research.
