Thad Cochran National Center for Natural Products Research - The University of Mississippi Phase II

As a leading center for primary research in the use of natural products, the Cochran Center brings together academia, government, and private industry to support the integrated development and commercialization of naturally derived compounds. Designed to accommodate the study of unknown chemical and biological substances, the facility prioritizes safety, containment, and research integrity in all aspects of its planning and operations.

Phase 2 of the project introduced the Natural Center for Natural Products West Wing, a state-of-the-art addition that expands the center’s capabilities and supports the growing needs of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (RIPS). This new $30 million facility provides four floors of dedicated laboratory and research space, totaling 104,000 gross SF.

Research conducted in this facility focuses on the discovery and development of potential new drug and agrochemical candidates. Key program areas include analog synthesis, pharmaceutics, and the discovery and resupply of complex natural products.
