The University of Mississippi Herrington Golf Center Practice Facility

The University of Mississippi’s Herrington Golf Center is home to both the women's and men’s golf teams. As the University found itself competing for recruits and in need of facilities that could further develop the team’s current athletes, they looked to CDFL to design a space that could fulfill these needs and more.

The 2,782-square foot addition to the existing Whitten Golf House is clad in the University’s traditional red brick veneer and features limestone columns and metal roofing. The new area features state of the art hitting and video bays that can be used in inclement weather and have the ability to record practices. CDFL customized the practice bays to ensure Ole Miss was provided with a design that fit their practical needs and fit the design aesthetic of the rest of the clubhouse.

Located between the facility’s indoor and outdoor bays and overlooking the driving range is a heated, covered hitting porch. The practice bays are outfitted with large, coiling doors that allow athletes to hit directly onto the driving range while being videoed regardless of that day’s weather. The all-weather hitting porch is overlooked by the players’ lounge. This flexible space also features a short-game practice area.
