Puckett Machinery Headquarters

CDFL served as the Designer of Record for the new 125,948 sf headquarters facility for Puckett Machinery, the authorized representative for Caterpillar Equipment in Central Mississippi. The facility includes office space, parts warehouse, and equipment shop. The customer friendly headquarters was designed with large-scale open spaces. Sweeps of glass were positioned to allow maximum controlled daylight into employee and customer spaces for a more pleasant and healthy environment. To further enhance the customer experience, CDFL matched exposed steel, concrete and industrial-inspired lighting with natural woods to evoke strength and warmth.

Beyond the office, Puckett also desired a facility that would allow their customers to engage in the process of maintenance. Relocating the facility and moving from five buildings to one modern facility, housing both equipment maintenance and component rebuild services, has allowed them to achieve this goal. The new facility organizes shop spaces in a linear arrangement that streamlines the sequence of operations. From receiving and disassembly to reassembly and testing, the combination of these previously detached spaces leads to increased efficiency and collaboration within the service department. By understanding the sequence of Puckett’s maintenance operation, CDFL designed a service department to increase productivity and economy.

CDFL’s internal organization which includes Architectural, Interior Design, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical Engineering and Landscape Architecture employed effective decision making strategies and real-time costing for efficient design strategies.
