Public Employees’ Retirement System Building
When the State of Mississippi decided to renovate the existing home to the Public Employees’ Retirement System, it selected to CDFL for the design. The project included the complete renovation of the existing 1956 building, located in the Capitol Complex directly south of the State Capitol Building in downtown Jackson, plus an addition to its west end, and a new 112,000 SF parking garage.
The existing curtain-wall building was sheathed in limestone veneer compatible with other public buildings in the area, including columns, spandrels, cornice, and pediment panels. Employee and public access to the building, both from the new garage and from the new north entrance, is now through a secure control point. The project also included interior upgrades such as new fixtures and furnishings. The building expansion and renovation brought the facility into compliance with ADA and Life Safety requirements and efficient internal operations.
