They’re not from this week, and they’re both from the same website but we can’t help it — Architizer has posted some great stuff lately! First, a look at the 10 Latest Trends in Master Planning for urban areas. And then, not to be outdone by themselves, they posted an amazing collection of the 11 Most Absurd Architecture Promo Videos.
From Architectural Digest, a great read on the recently-held Resilient Cities Conference in New Orleans. According to the article, the Rockefeller Foundation, “in an effort to help cities prepare for environmental threats like Sandy—and the accompanying economic and social challenges such natural disasters pose” has begun to fund chief resilience officer positions (CROs) in 100 cities around the world. This conference is an opportunity for learning and collaboration amongst its members. Really cool.
Here’s an air conditioner that saves energy by removing humidity! It uses 30-70% less power than a traditional system, is no more expensive than a traditional system, AND requires less maintenance.
