One of the most fun parts of traveling is enjoying the chic temporary digs you get to call home enjoy vacation, with design inspiration coming in a close second. These beautiful hotel lobbies, the 15 hottest in New York City, have got this editor itching to hit the road.
One of the not-so-glamorous aspects of travel? The airport. These images, however, beg to differ. Check out Holding Pattern, a tumblr of airport views from (where else?) the sky!
If a vacation isn’t the cards for you anytime soon, take a little relaxing trip using calm.com. With its calming visuals, soothing music, and guided meditations, it’s a nice (and much less expensive) alternative.
Now to Compostela, a poverty-stricken area of Cebu in the Philippines. A project of former professional soccer player Bobby Dekeyser and his foundation, Dekeyser&Friends, the area has been turned into a low-cost housing and community enrichment project. Villagers who once survived by scavenging a nearby garbage dump are now living in well-built, sustainable structures and being provided with job training. It’s a truly incredible initiative.
Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous (infamous, even) structures in the world. This post is a fascinating overview of the building’s history and the process of lighting one of the world’s architectural treasures.
