Meet the Team: Rachael Taylor
It’s time again to introduce a new CDFL employee, or as we like to think of ourselves, the “us” in the Power of Plus. This week we are proud to introduce the newest member of our architecture team, Rachael Taylor.
What led you to architecture?
In the low-tech days of the early 90s I took a magazine quiz for career guidance. The quiz results suggested “architect” or “writer” as a career. The only basis I had for choosing architecture was my love of math and art. I went into architecture school with a blank slate and no expectations. The open studio environment, the brutal hours of design and production, the studies of light, shadow, composition, materials, movement… that experience was my introduction and opened my eyes to architecture.
What projects are you currently working on?
Monroe Hotel and MSU Patterson IDEE lab.
What is your favorite summertime activity?
I love to kayak or canoe on the river.
What is one thing people may not know about you?
I trained in jiu jitsu for several years. I took gold for No Gi at the NAGA Grappling & BJJ Tournament (by arm bar).
Who is your favorite musical artist?
It is not possible to choose one artist. Here are a few: Tool, A.I.C., Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Chris Cornell, Avett Brothers.
