Justin Stockman Joins CDFL!
1. How would you explain your job at CDFL to a 5-year-old?
I work with the team to study outside and draw what it could be depending on what exists and the clients’ expectations.
2. What exciting thing are you working on right now?
I just joined CDFL, so I’m diving into the exciting onboarding process, learning how everything works! I’ve also been given a fun project to study the Fondren district and come up with ideas to make it an even better place to visit and hang out.
3. What’s something new you’ve learned since starting at CDFL?
Every day I’m learning more about how our team brings creative ideas to life and makes spaces amazing for communities.
4. What’s a TV show you could rewatch forever?
I’m more of an outdoorsy guy, so I don’t watch much TV—just a bit before bed to unwind. I’m not big on rewatching shows; I like to keep it fresh and random!
5. What’s your happy place outside of work?
On a dead-end dirt road in Jasper County.
6. What’s the last movie you watched, and did it live up to the hype?
I watched Daddy’s Home 2. Finished it last night and it was HALARIOUS!!!
7. Where should we go to lunch if you get to pick?
Ichiban, hands down! I’m a huge fan of their sushi and hibachi—the flavors are fresh, and it’s always a great vibe.
8. If you weren’t in architecture, what’s your alternate dream job?”
Honestly, I can’t picture doing anything else. I’ve wanted to be in this field since I was 12, and getting here felt like climbing a mountain I never thought I could. I love designing spaces and making dreams real—it’s my passion, and I’m living it!
9. If you had a week off tomorrow, where are you going?
With my wife working hard, I’d probably stick around home, tackling chores and cooking some good meals to give her a break—she’s a total rockstar. If I get a free moment, you’ll find me out fishing, casting a line, or hunting.
10. What’s something on your desk that makes you smile?
I keep my desk pretty simple, but I’d say my coffee mug—it’s a little reminder of my morning ritual and gets me ready to tackle the day.
11. What song is on repeat for you right now?
I don’t have one song stuck on repeat—I’m all over the place with music! I vibe to country, classic rock, and hip-hop, depending on my mood.
12. What’s your go-to coffee order?
For espresso, I go for a latte with a double shot—bold and smooth. For regular coffee, it’s Starbucks Blonde roast all the way. Fun fact: light roasts pack more caffeine because the beans are roasted less, keeping that natural zing intact!
13. What’s a small thing that makes your day better?
A day without complaints and just easy, friendly chats with people—those simple moments make everything flow better.
14. What’s one piece of advice you’d give your younger self?
Keep chasing your dreams with all you’ve got—trust me, it’ll pay off.
