National Agricultural Aviation Museum
Covering over 5,000 SF, the National Agricultural Aviation Museum (NAAM) offers visitors a comprehensive look at the industry that transformed the history of agriculture, featuring full-size planes that once flew over Southern farms and plantations, complemented by informative videos, photographs, and exhibit panels.
Located within the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum, the NAAM renovation was completed in two phases from 2018 to 2023, with CDFL leading the redesign to properly highlight the museum’s collection of four full-size aircraft.
Phase 1 focused on a complete overhaul of finishes and exhibit backgrounds, replacing a hand-painted mural with high-resolution imagery of blue skies and cotton fields angled to evoke the motion of flight. New gateways were constructed to clearly define the museum’s entrance, while custom-designed barricades were added to protect the aircraft while maintaining clear visibility for visitors.
Phase 2, initiated in 2022, included a full replacement of the lighting system with updated LED house lighting and enhanced exhibit lighting, providing color-changing capabilities to illuminate the planes from all angles. A large-scale video wall was also added to showcase aerial acrobatics and the work of crop-dusting aircraft in action.
The renovation has transformed the National Agricultural Aviation Museum from a dimly lit corner of the facility into a vibrant showcase of one of the museum’s most engaging collections, providing an immersive and educational experience for visitors.
