Mississippi MED-COM

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, it became clear to the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the public safety community that our state was in need of a centralized emergency medical communications center. Intended to fulfill that need, Mississippi MED-COM will serve as a daily communications center for routine and emergency transfers throughout the state. This adaptable facility will be able to meet the needs of hospitals and emergency response officials during disasters or mass casualty incidents.

CDFL was asked to masterplan a new 150,000 square foot facility with the ability to expand as the program’s needs grow. The new center will house a new operations center, emergency training models, a helicopter/apparatus hanger with dedicated tarmac, and warehouse. This state-of-the-art communications center is located on the campus of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
