Mississippi College School of Law - Phase II Renovations

As part of the School of Law’s multi-phase campus transformation, Phase II brought new life to the exterior heart of the downtown Jackson campus. Building on the framework established in CDFL’s comprehensive Master Plan, the landscape architecture effort focused on creating outdoor spaces that feel intentional, welcoming, and deeply connected to the rhythms of student life.

The redesigned courtyard and student patio now function as extensions of the academic environment, offering pockets of shade, flexible seating, and improved circulation that encourage gathering, studying, and everyday movement. Planting strategies were selected for durability, seasonal interest, and low-maintenance performance - bringing color and softness to a primarily urban site. Lighting upgrades strengthened both safety and usability, while refreshed paving, accessible paths, and reconfigured parking areas improved flow across the campus edge.

Wayfinding and signage were updated to align with the school’s evolving identity, incorporating clear visual cues and large-scale graphic elements that unify the interior and exterior experience.

Phase II’s landscape improvements play a crucial role in the School of Law’s broader vision - turning previously underutilized outdoor areas into active, student-centered spaces that support connection, comfort, and a stronger sense of place.
