Mississippi College Alumni Hall
Mississippi College recognized a need for more common areas for its students and reached out to CDFL to help re-imagine its Alumni Hall building. Constructed in 1925, Alumni Hall served as the center for intramural sports, housed a smaller student center and coffee shop, and at one time housed the campus’ indoor water fitness pool.
The renovation of Alumni Hall included a new lobby and creation of the school’s welcome center, removal of basketball goals, a new grand staircase that connects the upper and lower levels, and an expanded commons area. Improvements also included new mechanical, electrical, communications, and life safety systems in the renovated spaces, complete WiFi coverage, and LED lighting throughout
Glass partitions in the lobby create a space for prospective students to meet with the Admissions staff and a new Blue and Gold meeting space for the school’s sports alumni.
The first floor, which previously housed a full-size basketball court, was renovated into student hang-out and study space. The original basketball floor was left as an ode to the building’s previous use. New lounge furniture along with tables and chairs create spaces for students to study and relax.
The basement saw the creation of a 16,800 SF redesigned commons area, including two new restaurants: Chick-fil-A and Einstein’s Bros Bagels, updated restrooms, and study areas.
