Academic & Athletic Facilities Master Plan
The Master Plan provided direction, options, and sequences to achieve the defined goals and address campus needs. The plan established opportunities to enhance the educational experiences provided by Mississippi College and focuses on the relationship between the City of Clinton and the campus community.
The Master Plan seeks to inform broader strategic planning efforts. Any planning effort must begin with a baseline of data from which aspirations grow. The Master Plan was a crucial first step in that direction. It has already brought together diverse constituencies and has provided the initial evaluation of the existing campus, a general framework for the future campus, and a comprehensive understanding of the assets that enter, exit, and surround the campus.
The planning process included listening sessions, data gathering, review and analysis, and visioning sessions. Meetings were held with Admissions, Alumni and Advancement, Athletics, Student Government, City of Clinton, Facilities, Food Service, Campus Information Technology, Residence Life, and Executive leadership. These sessions allowed the University’s community to explore assets and opportunities and address any deficiencies in its mission of service and education. Additionally, a survey was sent out to students, faculty, staff, and alumni to gather information from a broader spectrum.
The Master Plan led to the developments of several projects designed by CDFL.
- Renovation and Expansion of the University Commons in Alumni Hall, originally built in 1925, which now serves as the school’s Welcome Center, Admissions Office, and Student Union.
- Renovation and Repurposing of the former Clinton Junior High School, constructed in 1945, into the Gore Arts Complex.
- A New state-of-the-art Indoor Golf Facility.
- Renovations to the existing Coliseum.
- Interior Renovation and Improvements to Mary Nelson dorm lobby, Hederman Hall, Gunter Hall and Ratliff residence halls.
- Site Design and Landscape Architecture to B.C. Rogers Plaza.
