B.C. Rogers Plaza
Once an underutilized space adjacent to the B.C. Rogers Student Center, this area has been transformed into an inviting outdoor plaza that enhances student life through flexible dining and event opportunities. Originally constructed between 1957 and 1968, the B.C. Rogers Student Center has served as a central gathering point on campus for decades. Over the years, interior renovations and upgrades such as a roof replacement in 2015 and a basement remodel in 2020 have sustained its function. However, the outdoor spaces remained largely inactive until this recent revitalization.
Mississippi College partnered with CDFL and Alliant Construction to breathe new life into the surrounding site, activating it through thoughtful design and technical execution. The project introduced exterior dining areas and event space directly adjacent to the campus dining commons, extending the functionality of the student center beyond its walls.
Significant site work was required to bring this vision to life. The team tackled complex excavation and land design, integrated foundational reinforcements, and installed a large canopy structure that offers both shade and weather protection. Waterproofing measures were carefully implemented to ensure long-term durability and performance across the plaza.
Today, B.C. Rogers Plaza functions as a lively extension of the student experience. Whether used for everyday meals, campus events, or casual gatherings, the space invites community and connection in the heart of campus.
